Piraeus is the largest port in the Mediterranean in terms of passenger traffic and commercial activity. Most tourists arriving in Athens see it primarily as a transit point on their way to the Aegean islands.

A coastal walk from the metro station takes you along the port’s promenade, past the iconic lion statue at the harbor entrance and the Naval Academy. The route continues through the neighborhoods of Peiraiki and Zea Marina, ending in the picturesque Mikrolimano.

The famous “Lipasmata Drapetsonas” factory has been transformed into a park overlooking the sea and the entrance to the port, where you can watch large ships arriving in the harbor.
